What change do we really need? a letter to the McCain Campaign

the following are excerpts fom my persoan journal edited for content.

The acceptance speech given by Barack Obama is no different from any other speech given by a politician in the course of history. Grand promises are made and ideas expressed, yet in a year, the substance that got the masses all fired up and willing to support the new radical on the scene are forgotten by most, and remembered by a forgotten or ignored few.  Those that don’t forget, are ignored are labeled as radicals. Or in the case I fear of this nominee, racists.  This candidate will turn out to be no different than any candidate of the past, Corrupted by the system that out fore fathers (not the founding fathers) left broken and bleeding. Increasing debt, poverty, unemployment, a failing education system, and a whole litany of other ailments that no doctor or in this case Lawyer will be able to fix.  So let’s just all follow the honorable speaker and “try to save the planet” and expedite this willful national suicide.

I don’t want to be cynical when it comes to our elected leaders. And so for some reason year after year I hold out hope that this candidate will not be a leader of small changes, but a true leader willing to make the grand changes, the severe and shocking changes that need to take place in order to get this country back on the path of prosperity. Slash the tax rates across the board and raise taxes on imports, Forcing companies to bring the jobs home. It’s not enough to create “new” jobs but we have to bring as many of the “old” jobs home that have been lost to outsourcing and cheap overseas labor. If you are elected in November Senator, or you Governor, you have to really shake up Washington to the point that the American people will stand up and take notice. All of the people, not just the small percentage that pay attention in August. But All of the people!  General Eisenhower did not take the beaches of Normandy with a small move here and a little tweak there.  But with a mighty punch into the heart of the entrenched defenders of the shore. And like those soldiers fighting on D-day Senator we can no longer play politics with kid gloves and nice smiles asking the opposition to lie down or to help us while we do what we know to be right. But with a clenched fist destroy the bureaucracy.  Before this country that we have fought and bled for fades away into history like the coliseum of Rome.
On the deck of the U.S.S Forestall I am told it was your plane that the misfired missile struck.  I’m sure you remember how that felt. I want to feel the same thing in this economy. Shocked, with the wind knocked out of me. And left with 2 bad choices. Do nothing or jump into the fire and FIGHT for the life that now belongs to my country.  This is the time to change the country.  And to a point the world be damned.  Heck Senator… they don’t much like us anyways.

so i guess the question to you sir/mam is if you truly are the candidates for change, just how far are you wiling to go?
